Bloomsburg Field Hockey Downs East Stroudsburg

EAST STROUDSBURG — Morgan Wolf (Oley/Oley Valley) scored two goals and Maribeth Brozena (Larksville/Wyoming Valley West) scored once and had one assist to lead the Bloomsburg University field hockey team to a 4-1 win over East Stroudsburg on Saturday afternoon. The win moves Bloomsburg head coach Jan Hutchinson to within eight victories of 1,500 wins (between field hockey and softball) for her career.

The Warriors took the early lead in the game when Kristen Trois scored off a Jen Hyman assist 5:04 into the game.

Bloomsburg tied the score at the 29:13 mark when Maribeth Brozena scored unassisted.

The Huskies took their first lead of the game at 41:20 when freshman Jamie Vanartsdalen (Philadelphia/Lower Moreland) scored off an assist from Kristi Ney (Dauphin/Central Dauphin East). Bloomsburg took its first lead of the game in the 56th minute when Wolf scored her first goal off an assist from Amy Gilbert (Duncannon/Susquenita). Then, less than a minute later, Wolf scored for the second time off an assist from Brozena to put the game out of reach at 4-1.

Bloomsburg also missed on a penalty stroke during the game and had two other goals called back. In goal, Bloomsburg's Tracey Hudak (Sweet Valley/Lake-Lehman) stopped seven shots on the afternoon.

The Huskies are now 7-0, 4-0 in the PSAC, will visit Shippensburg on Wednesday at 4 p.m.
